Account Deletion & Data Retention Policy

At Meli, your privacy comes first. Whether you're here for a short while or for a lifetime of memories, we make it easy to manage your account — including saying goodbye.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your Meli account anytime directly from the app:

  1. Open the Meli app
  2. Tap the profile icon in the bottom right corner
  3. Select "Account"
  4. Tap "Delete Account" at the bottom of the screen
  5. Confirm that you would like to delete your account

Once confirmed, the deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

What Happens to Your Data

When you delete your account, Meli will begin the process of removing your data. This may take up to 30 days to complete.

Deleted:

  • Your account details (birthday, phone number)
  • All private timelines and content not shared with others
  • Any tags, comments, or metadata you've added in private timelines

Retained:

  • Posts and content you've shared in timelines with others will remain visible to those timeline members, to preserve the shared history and contributions of everyone involved
  • Your name will continue to appear alongside these posts and content to reflect who shared them, but will not be visible outside of those private timelines

Want More Control?

If you'd prefer not to have your real name associated with shared posts after account deletion, you can update your display name before deleting your account. This name will continue to appear alongside your content in shared timelines after your account is removed.
